Sonora, CA — City of Sonora Interim Administrator Tim Miller will deliver the annual State of the City address Tuesday evening.
The City of Sonora is facing a $400-500K deficit for the current fiscal year, so the Council will have to discuss potential cuts in the coming weeks.
“It (deficit) is similar to what it has been the past two years, so we’ll be trying to achieve cost savings through now and the end of the fiscal year,” says Miller. “We need to be prudent with our decisions and how we spend our money. The local economy really hasn’t improved yet, and it will probably take another couple of years before we see significant improvements.”
Tuesday’s City Council meeting begins at 5pm at Sonora City Hall. Mid-year budget adjustments will come in February.
