Sonora, CA– This week the Tuolumne Utilities District Board of Directors approved an agreement to rent space to cell phone provider Clear Wireless.
According to TUD District Engineer Tom Scesa, Clear Wireless will now pay $800 a month to rent a 49 square foot space for equipment at TUD’s water tank site on Greenley Road in Sonora.
“They needed the property so they could be next to the existing AT&T tower and bring a 4-G network into Tuolumne County”, said Scesa. “This should improve wireless service throughout our area. We also have lease agreements with AT&T and Golden State Cellular. We enjoy working with these companies. We get a little bit of income that helps our rate payers keep their costs down. It’s good for our community.”
The TUD board unanimously approved the Clear Wireless lease agreement at their regular meeting Tuesday night.
