Forest Service Seeks Public Comment

Sonora, CA– The Stanislaus National Forest is seeking public comment on preliminary 2012 off highway vehicle grant applications.  These (OHV) grants are for consideration by the California State Parks Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division.


Forest recreation specialists have completed two draft grant applications, proposing a total of nine off highway vehicle projects.


The proposed projects include Forest-wide operation and maintenance of off highway trails and facilities, environmental planning for (OHV) restoration activities, educational trail signing and barrier placement, routine law enforcement patrols and visitor education, and restoration of areas where illegal OHV use has taken place.


The public comment period for grant applications begins March 8th and runs through April 4th. The public is invited to review and comment on the preliminary application package.


The Stanislaus National Forest grant applications can be found by going to the California State Parks website at http://ohv.parks.ca.gov.
