Sonora, CA– Storm damage repairs to portions of Wards Ferry Road will begin next week.
The work from Richard Ranch Road to Thiel Road will start Monday, April 11th and tentatively be completed by May 2nd. During this time, this portion of Wards Ferry Road will be closed to all traffic
Tuolumne County Road Superintendent Barry Bynum said, “We had some significant undermining of the approach to the Deer Creek Bridge. After this last series of storms that came through we also suffered some rather significant slips on the downhill side and a number of areas through that entire corridor.”
Bynum added that rafting companies are a revenue generator for the county and that they need access to the river bridge at the bottom of the canyon. He says the Public Works Department will try to get the corridor opened up as quickly as possible.
