Scattered rain and snow showers will continue through the morning hours across the Sierra Nevada.
Any of the heavier showers could develop into a brief thunderstorm, generating dangerous lightening strikes.
Snow levels begin around 6500 feet where a few inches of snow accumulation is expected.
Gusty winds of up to fifty mph are expected over the higher elevations.
Rain and snow shower activity will taper off by this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
