Misuse of old prescription drugs continues to be a community concern. Events will be held over the coming days across the Mother Lode were residents can drop off old medications.
The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, Yes Partnership and DEA are teaming up to open a drop off site on Friday and Saturday. It will be open from 10am-2pm in the Junction Parking Lot near the Sheriff’s CSU Office.
Three “Drop the Drugs” sites will be open in Calaveras County this Saturday thanks to the Sheriff’s Department, Angels Camp PD and the Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention. The locations will be Feeney Park in Murphys, the Calaveras Office of Education Parking Lot in Angels Camp and the Toyon Middle School Parking Lot in San Andreas. The hours are 10am-2pm.
Participants are encouraged to drop off prescribed and over the counter medication, except for intra-venous solutions, injectables and syringes. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container.
