Mariposa, CA – Two schools in Mariposa County will be shutting their doors.
Last week the Mariposa County Unified School District voted 3-2 to close both Coulterville-Greeley Elementary School and Catheys Valley Elementary School.
The District Superintendent’s Office reports that the closures will save a combined $400,000. Coulterville-Greeley Elementary School has around 65 students and they will be moved to Lake Don Pedro Elementary. Catheys Valley Elementary has 63 students that will move to Mariposa Elementary.
The closures will take effect at the end of this school year. The schools have had declining enrollment over recent years.
