The Bret Harte High School class of 2011 will receive diplomas at a graduation ceremony this evening at the school’s football field.
Bret Harte High Principal Dean Way was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
“We will open the gates at 6:30 p.m and the ceremony begins at 7:30 p.m.,” says Way, “We don’t let people save seats. Please don’t spread out blankets and wait for someone. We also ask that there not be balloons as they block the view for others.”
Budget cuts are personally hitting Principal Way as he and “some very good staff members” will not be returning next year. Instead, Bret Harte will have a ‘Superintendent Principal’ and Way will start his new job as the Principal of a Modesto area middle school.
Way has been with Bret Harte for five years and says he will miss the school, the staff and the area.
