Planning Commission To Discuss Charter School

La Grange, CA– Next week the Southern Tuolumne County Planning Commission will decide whether to allow a building to be converted into a charter school.

Tuolumne County Community Development Director Bev Shane says an application has been submitted for a Golden Lakes Charter School at 5021 La Grange Road in La Grange.

“There is a 4,500 square foot metal building on the site that was formerly used for house boat repair,” said Shane. “And the school is proposing to convert that into a multi-purpose room, classrooms and office space, and to also bring in seven portable buildings to be used for classrooms and restroom facilities. They’ll also be developing some playfields and ball parks on the site to serve the school.”

Last November, the Tuolumne County Board of Education approved the creation of a Golden Lakes Charter School in the Don Pedro area. The school will enroll 120 students.

The Southern Tuolumne County Planning Commission meets Wednesday, July 13th at 7:00 pm in La Grange.
