Sonora, CA — We knew about Jo-ann Fabrics and Pet Smart already, and now a third retailer has been announced to fill the former Mervyns space in Sonora.
Big Lots has received a building permit from the City of Sonora and has begun construction. “Big Lots is a welcome addition,” states Tim Miller, City of Sonora Administrator. “Having three major retailers in one centralized location creates an exciting shopping experience, even more jobs, and will draw customers from other counties.”
Big Lots is a closeout value retailer, and has over 1,400 stores in 48 states.
Tuolumne County Economic Development Director Larry Cope says Big Lots has seen rapid growth in California recently, and offers brand named products and reduced prices. Big Lots, Pet Smart and Jo-ann Fabrics are expected to open late this year.
