San Andreas, CA — The Calaveras Humane Society has donated $4,700 to the Sheriff’s Department so that a part-time animal control position will remain in place for a couple of months.
Sheriff Gary Kuntz says the position was set for elimination as part of the recent budget approved. The new funding will allow the position to continue until at least September. That is when the county is scheduled to approve a revised budget for the current fiscal year, and it is possible that new funding will be available at that time. If not, the position would likely be eliminated.
