Sonora, CA — Because of staffing cuts, many Tuolumne County government offices are reducing the hours of operation.
On weekdays, the Sheriff’s Office front counter for public business is now open from 9am-4pm. Previously it was open from 8:30am-4:30pm. The Probation Department will continue to be open from 8am-5pm, however, the office will close from noon-1pm. Animal Control is eliminating two hours from the work day, and will be open from 9am-1pm during the week. The office will also be open from 10am-1pm on Saturday.
The Recreation Department will keep its regular hours of 8am-5pm during the summer months (May 1st-August 31st), but will only be open from 8am-2pm during the offseason. The Youth Centers will open an hour later, and operate from 10:30am-5pm.
The Community Development Department and Public Works Department will be open from 8am-3pm. Public Works had been staying open until 4pm. The Agriculture Commissioners Office will be open from 8am-1pm, and the office can be contacted by phone up until 3:30pm.
The new hours were approved this week by the Board of Supervisors.
