Brown May Drop Cogdill

Sacramento, CA — Former Mother Lode Senator Dave Cogdill is expected to be dropped from the California Water Commission.

Cogdill was appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger last December, shortly after Cogdill left office. The Sacramento Bee reports that Governor Jerry Brown has asked Senate Democrats to prevent Cogdill and water agency leader Paul Kelley from being confirmed, as the Governor has indicated that he would like to make his own appointments. Both must leave the Commission if they are not confirmed in the Senate by the end of the year.

Cogdill helped co-author the comprehensive water legislation of 2009, which reconstituted the California Water Commission. It also calls for an $11 billion water bond that will go before voters at a later time.
