Motor Fire Grows To 1,000 Acres

Mariposa County, CA — A fire that started near Highway 140 in the Sierra National Forest has grown to 1,000 acres.


The fire has also spread into the nearby Stanislaus National Forest. It was started Thursday by a motorhome that caught on fire near the Merced River Canyon. Air Resources from the Columbia Air Base have been assisting the effort. Officials are urging motorists to stay away from Highway 140 heading into Yosemite National Park. The fire has been heading in a northerly direction.


Drift smoke has been noticeable across the Mother Lode.
