Film Festival Awards

Twain Harte, CA — Independent films were celebrated at the inaugural Film Fest Twain Harte over the weekend.

Around 20 films were shown at the three day event held at Eproson Park, the American Legion Hall, Black Oak School and the Twain Harte Golf Course. Celebrity guests included Jeffrey Weissman, who played George McFly in Back to the Future II and III, and Jack McGee who recently played the boxing coach in the Mark Wahlberg film “The Fighter.”

The following awards were handed out to films that stood above the rest:

Audience Choice Award for Best Picture: Corked!
Best Picture: The Whisperer In Darkness
Best Director: Tim Pape, Black Velvet
Best Actor in a Feature Film: Matt Foyer, The Whisperer In Darkness
Best Actress in a Feature Film: Leah Kercheville, Rancho D’Amour
Best Documentary Film: KEVIN, directed by Jay Duplass
Best Actor In a Short Film: Quentin McCuiston, Father(s)
Best Actress In a Short Film: Gisella Van der Wiel, Carmen the Movie
Best Ensemble in a Film: The Cast of Black Velvet
