Sonora, CA – Less people sought jobs last month in Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties.
The California Employment Development Department reports that the jobless rate in Tuolumne County dropped to 12.7 percent in August, compared to 13.5 percent in July. Calaveras County’s rate fell to 15.1 percent in August, compared to 15.7 percent in July.
The State of California’s unemployment rate slightly increased to 12.1 percent, up from 12 percent the month prior. The only other state with a higher unemployment rate is Nevada.
Fields that saw an increase in jobs over the past month were logging, manufacturing, trade, transportation and utilities.
