Sonora, CA — A man is charged with violently attacking two people at a Sonora home.
Police Chief Mark Stinson says 22-year-old Brian Armstrong was visiting a residence yesterday morning in the 200 block of Gerrymander Avenue.
For unknown reasons, Armstrong became agitated and allegedly used a kitchen knife to stab a 28-year-old unidentified female. Other guests at the home started chasing Armstrong around the property. Chief Stinson says Armstrong then picked up a wood splitting maul, and struck a 61-year-old unidentified male in the face, causing a large laceration.
Armstrong was able to escape, but was captured by Sonora PD officers an hour later at a campsite where he had been living. He was booked into Tuolumne County Jail on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. An investigation is ongoing. The injuries sustained by the two victims are not believed to be life threatening.
