Amador County, CA — One person was killed during a shootout at an Amador County marijuana garden.
The Sheriff’s Office has arrested five unidentified people in connection. They are reportedly gang members out of the Sacramento area, and between the ages of 18-23.
The Sheriff’s Office received a report of 15-20 gunshots on Carbondale Road in the Ione area Tuesday night. When the deputies arrived, they saw a full size truck and an SUV leaving the area. When the drivers noticed the deputies, they accelerated and attempted to flee. The deputies lost track of the truck, but were able to overtake the SUV. The five people inside were taken into custody.
When deputies went back to the Carbondale Road residence, they found an indoor and outdoor marijuana garden. They found 45-year-old He Ting Fu had been murdered and was holding an empty shotgun.
Later on a second person claiming to be associated with the property arrived. He told deputies that he and others were collectively cultivating medical marijuana on the property. There were 779 marijuana plants located.
An investigation is ongoing, and Amador County is collaborating with gang officers from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
