Sonora, CA — The Sonora Area Foundation has tabbed another retired City of Sonora employee to lead the organization.
Former Community Development Director Ed Wyllie has been selected to replace Greg Applegate.
Applegate, the retired City Administrator, recently moved to Idaho to be closer to family. Over recent months he has been “telecommuting” over the phone.
Wyllie has released a statement reading, “It is an honor for me to be named to this position. I look forward to working with the Board of Directors, and with our donors and grant recipients, to build upon the Foundation’s mission to strengthen our communities and families.”
SAF President Jim Johnson commented that he and Board are pleased to have Wyllie join the organization.
Wyllie was born and raised in Sonora. He holds a B.S. Degree in City and Regional Planning from California Polytechnic State University. His honors include winning the “Excellence in Government” award from the Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce in 1993 and 2009.
