Denham Meets With Veterans

Sonora, CA – Congressman Jeff Denham met with Veterans Monday night at the Sonora High School Auditorium.

Denham hosted a roundtable discussion where Veterans could bring concerns and issues straight to the Congressman.

“A lot of the concerns had to do with the length of time that many of these Veterans are waiting to get their claims heard or adjusted,” says Denham. “We’ve got a real challenge on our hands, not only to fix the issues from the Vietnam era, but also with a huge number of Veterans coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan, we need to make sure that this is done right and expediently right now.”

Denham says unemployment among veterans is still on the rise, and it was also a prominent topic at the roundtable. He says ensuring that returning Veterans can find work is a top priority.

Denham’s office reports that the event was closed to the general public, and the media, to ensure a personal conversation.
