Sonora, CA — The unemployment rate dipped slightly last month in Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties.
The California Employment Development Department reports that Tuolumne County’s jobless rate was 12.4 percent in September, compared to 12.7 percent in August. Calaveras County’s rate was 14.5 percent in September, as opposed to 15.1 percent in August.
California’s unemployment rate last month was 11.9 percent, down from 12.1 percent in August. Statewide, sectors that saw an increase in jobs were construction, trade, transportation, hospitality and utilities. Professions that that saw a decline were logging, manufacturing, health services and government.
