Sonora, CA– The Tuolumne County Supervisors have approved the draft of the Tuolumne County 5-Year Plan.
The Plan is made up of six categories that include Health, Safety, Natural & Cultural Resources, Quality of Life, Economic Prosperity and Organizational Stewardship.
Major projects in the plan include the Day Reporting Center created from AB-109, the Public Safety Bill. A Juvenile Detention Facility, a new Jail and the Law and Justice Building are also part of the county plan.
County Administrator Craig Pedro says there are also some projects that the county will not have to fund.
“The new courthouse itself will be funded 100% by the state of California using another dedicated source of funding just for courthouses,” said Pedro. “The purchase of the site for the new Tuolumne County Superior Court appears to be going ahead. The CHP has also expressed interest several times to go over at the site as well. If they do, that would be 100% state funded.”
District Two Supervisor Randy Hanvelt suggested that the Plan address one additional concern.
“I’ve gotten a number of comments from people that a 5-Year Plan in the county needs to include a road maintenance plan and we don’t really have that in here,” said Hanvelt. “I believe we need to add something about road maintenance. It’s a major issue and will only get worse.”
The 5-Year Plan was unanimously approved by the Tuolumne Board of Supervisors Tuesday. It will be now be presented for public comment during the Board’s series of special meetings next month in each supervisorial district.
