Cool and wet weather will develop later this week as a pair of weather systems move into the region.
According to the National Weather Service, the first weather system is forecast to affect the Motherlode from Thursday afternoon into Friday. Rainfall amounts of a tenth to a quarter of an inch are expected.
Snow levels in the Sierra Nevada could lower from 3500 to 4500 feet by Friday morning. Several inches of snow is expected in the highest elevations.
Temperatures on Friday will average ten to fifteen degrees below normal.
Wind gusts of up to seventy-five mph are expected over the Sierra crest.
A second system will move through the area late Saturday into Sunday. This will bring another chance of rain showers and mountain snow.
