Bret Harte H.S. Bond Project

Angels Camp, CA — Construction on the nine-classroom Bret Harte High School science building could start as early as June.

Funding will come from Measure K, the $18 million bond measure approved by voters in 2008.

“Last night the Board of Education approved issuing bond anticipation notes to fund the two story classroom project, in the amount of $5 million,” says Michael Chimente, District Superintendent. “We’ll be moving forward with the promise that was made during the Measure K ballot initiative.”

Chimente says the new building will include four “state of the art” science classrooms, five general purpose classrooms and restrooms for both staff and students.

The location on campus currently houses eight portable classrooms which will be replaced by the new facility. The project could be completed by the middle of next school year, assuming everything stays on schedule. Measure K projects already completed include the new aquatic center and updated athletic fields.
