Columbia, CA– Cal fire reports that the Big Hill-Bald Mountain area fire known as the Mountain fire has grown to 50 acres. In the past hour it has not increased in size. Wind gusts have died down in the area but there is no containment estimate yet. Air Attack and ground crews in the area continue to manage the fire.
In the Ferndale area off of New Priest Grade a vehicle has started a grass fire that is 2-3 acres in size. The vehicle fire was reported by CHP at 1:46 pm. New Priest Grade was closed but is now allowing one way controlled traffic while firefighters deal with the grass fire.
The Pheonix Lake Road fire also known as the Ridgewood Incident by Cal fire is contained, crews are doing mop-up of that 2-3 acre burn.
There are two fires in Calaveras County near Blue Mountain lookout in the West Point area. One is 30 acres the other is 100 acres. No homes or structures are threatened.
