A new children’s book should look very familar to Tuolumne County residents.
Kimberly Ann Francis was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
Francis is a fourth generation native of Tuolumne County. Her father is Coach Rick Francis at Sonora Union High School and her mother, Pattie Francis, is also associated with S.U.H.S..
The book, which is set in Tuolumne County, includes art and paintwork by both Francis and her now fifteen month old niece, Payten.
Francis wrote the book “Payten and Nannie Ann, Painting Our Way Home” as a gift to Peyton to showcase her roots and the pride she has for both her niece and the local area.
“The story is about Payten and I being creative, exploring, laughing and painting our way home to a beautiful and welcoming community that really exists”, said Francis.
Sonora is represented throughout the book in addition to Jamestown, Columbia, Pinecrest and Yosemite National Park.
An extra fun treat for any child that owns this book, is the room to write their own name within the pages and draw and/or paint their own art on set-aside select pages.
The book is available for purchase at the Ventanna-Annex Gallery located at 19 Bradford Ave in Sonora.
