Tuolumne County Worker Furloughs

Sonora, CA — Many Tuolumne County government offices are now closed through the end of the year.

Worker furloughs are in effect for many employees. The county furloughs were put in place to save an estimated $4 million this year. The holiday season was selected for furloughs because it is typically a time of low demand for county services, and it allows workers extra time with their families.

The furloughs do not impact emergency services, and offices like the District Attorney, Probation, Public Defender, Animal Control and Child Support Services. Many other departments will be on call to respond to emergencies.

Schools are also out in both Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties for the holidays.
