Wallace, CA– Two people suffered major injuries in an early morning solo vehicle accident in Calaveras County.
The San Andreas CHP reports that at around 1:39 am, officers were dispatched to a traffic collision on Camanche Parkway South, just north of Highway 12.
Upon arrival, officers found Fire and EMS personnel providing first aid to the driver who had been partially ejected from the vehicle and attempting to extricate the passenger that was still trapped inside the vehicle.
The driver and passenger were flown by air ambulance to hospitals in Modesto and Sacramento.
The CHP says that for an unknown reason, the driver, 22-year-old Steven Pickard, allowed his 2011 Dodge pickup truck to travel in a westerly direction off Camanche Parkway, South. The pickup collided with two fences and a large tree.
Officers determined that Pickard was under the influence of alcohol and also not wearing a seat belt. The passenger’s name has not been released.
