Sonora, CA– Those wanting to run for Board of Supervisor and two Superior Court Judge positions in Tuolumne County can officially submit paperwork today.
Board of Supervisor Districts 1, 4 and 5 are up for election in June. A number of candidates have submitted their papers on day one, according to Tuolumne County Clerk and Auditor-Controller Deborah Russell.
For the Supervisor Districts, Russell reports incumbent Liz Bass has filed for District One as well as Sherrine Brennan and Jim Garaventa. Incumbent John Gray has submitted for District Four, and Karl Rodefer has taken out papers for District Five.
For the two judgeship positions, Donald Segerstrom Jr. and Gregory Oliver have taken out paperwork. Segerstrom was newly appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Douglas Boyack. His seat will be up for re-election, as well as the one of Judge Eleanor Provost.
To have their name placed on the ballot, candidates can collect signatures of 10% of the district voters or pay a flat fee. Those running for Board of Supervisors have until February 23rd, the Judgeship positions have until February 8th. The amount of signatures varies depending on the district, approximately 600 or more signatures are needed for each district.
Candidates for Board of Supervisors must be 18 years of age or older and registered to vote and live in the district that they are running.
To be a Superior Court Judge requires membership of the State Bar for 10 years. They must also be a resident of California but do not have to live in Tuolumne County.

Other local races, like school boards, T.U.D. and special districts will not be until next November.
