Sacramento, CA – California homeowners will have a more difficult time finding replacement parts for water faucets.
One of the many new laws going into effect today makes it illegal to sell faucets and replacement parts that contain more than ¼% lead. Up until yesterday, the legal limit was 8%.
Assembly Bill 1953 was actually signed back in 2006, and lawmakers delayed implementation for four years.
Industry officials say it will be virtually impossible for consumers to find replacement parts for current faucets, and they will likely have to incur the expense of a complete faucet exchange.
