Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Supervisors are urging Governor Schwarzenegger to keep local transportation funding in place.
At Tuesday’s meeting, Public Works Director Peter Rei cited a California Statewide Local Streets and Road Assessment report that rates roads on a scale of zero (failed) to 100 (excellent). The average local street or road in California ranks 68 percent, which is in the "at-risk" category. The most recent evaluation in 2007 ranked Tuolumne County’s average road a 64.
The assessment report is a collaborative effort of the League of California Cities, California State Association of Counties, County Engineers Association of California and other transportation stakeholders.
The Supervisors voted 5-0 to send the letter.
