Sacramento, CA — Still another honor has been bestowed on retiring 14th District State Senator Dave Cogdill.
The California State Sheriff’s Association has named the Modesto Republican as an Outstanding Legislator Of The Year for 2009.
Cogdill has authored a number of measures which are now law aimed at keeping communities safe:
SB1302 (2008); Closes loopholes in sexual assault statutes and ensures that predators convicted of the continuous sexual abuse of a child are held to more stringent standards.
AB465 (2005); Helps combat methamphetamine production by adding iodine to the list of regulated chemicals for which transactions must be reported to the Department of Justice.
AB618 (2005); Helps law enforcement investigate and prosecute identity theft crimes by streamlining the process to obtain bank and ATM surveillance video.
AB233 (2003); Increases penalties for methamphetamine production if a child under the age of 16 resides on the premises where production occurred.
Just this week Cogdill began serving as Vice Chair of the Senate Public Safety Committee, a position he held in 2008 and 2006.
