Watching Cosgrove Creek For Flooding

Valley Springs, CA — Cosgrove Creek in the Valley Springs area has the greatest potential for flooding in Calaveras County when the rains come, according to Sgt. Rachelle Whiting of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department Office of Emergency Services.

“We’re monitoring the levels, but so far it is okay,” says Whiting. “There definitely is a swelling that we see in the creeks and drainages due to the rainfall, but right now there is no major flooding.”

Free sand is available to county residents at the Government Center (below the red barn), at the County Roads Department facilities in Arnold, West Point and Jenny Lind, and at the Murphys Fire Department on Hwy 4.
