Sonora, CA – Plans are moving forward on the proposed Stage Two of the East Sonora Bypass.
The supervisors will hear an update on the $65.2 million project at Tuesday’s meeting.
"We did incur a $9.4 million cost overrun initially so we have to design the project a little bit differently than originally planned to save some money," says Deputy Transportation Director Darin Grossi. "We’re eliminating the westbound off ramp at Peaceful Oaks/Standard Road, as well as the eastbound on ramp."
"This will save us a considerable amount of money, and we’re also saving by not acquiring quite as much right of way," he adds.
The project, which will stretch from Peaceful Oaks to Via Este, is tentatively scheduled to move into the construction phase in December of this year.
The supervisors will hear more about the project at 11am Tuesday during their regular meeting. Grossi encourages residents interested in the project to attend.
