Twain Harte, CA — The C.H.P. is reporting an unidentified male was killed earlier this morning in a single vehicle accident on Hwy 108 at the East Ave. Bridge.
According to Officer Brad Schultz a female driver collided with a guardrail in that immediate area. A passing motorist stopped to help. The two women then looked down the embankment only to discover a Toyota pickup truck some 50 feet from the roadway.
A short time later emergency personnel declared the lone occupant of the vehicle as deceased. His truck had left the roadway and rolled over down the embankment landing next to a tree. This marks the third traffic related fatality of the year in Tuolumne County.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the next hour or so and to be extremely careful as icy conditions are persisting on the Twain Harte grade. The C.H.P. has already requested a Caltrans sanding operation.
Should you have any information regarding the fatal accident, specifically the time, you are encouraged to contact the C.H.P. immediately at (209) 984-3944.
