Sonora, CA – A community effort has helped purchase a portable mound that will allow youth baseball teams to play at Standard Park.
The park was previously only configured for softball, but now has a portable Little League sanctioned pitching mound.
Over $4,400 was raised through a fundraising effort coordinated by the Youth Sports Foundation of Tuolumne County.
According to Y.S.F. President Dave Crocker, the funds were raised in a short period so that the mound could be used for this year’s baseball season.
The Youth Sports Foundation donated $700, Westside Little League gave $700, Summerville High School’s JV Baseball Program donated $700, Tuolumne County Recreation Department chipped in $700 and the Sonora Area Foundation gave a grant of $1,637.
