About three hundred children from Tuolumne County elementary schools will be participating in “Ranch Day” at the Motherlode Ranch on Tuesday May 18th.
Spokesperson Gil Fryer, was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
Fryer is on the RAC committee, the TuCare Board of Directors and has been keeping busy recently as a member of the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Posse.
Children ranging from first through sixth grade will see cattle, horses, mules, ranch gear, an Indian rock, windmills and more. Horse rides around the entire ranch are also given.
The kids are divided into about ten to twelve groups and are taken from work station to work station. Several volunteers, ranchers and teachers are available to answer questions and help educate children about the past and current issues of modern day ranch life.
Motherlode Ranch is located on Wards Ferry Road. The field trip will take place from 9am – Noon.
The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
