Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspicious piece of mail that was delivered in Groveland.
Deputy Lee Butler was dispatched to the Elder Lane Apartments Thursday afternoon regarding an envelope containing a suspicious substance.
Glenda Hawkins, the manager, reported receiving an envelope in the mail that had no return address. When she opened it, she saw a white powdery substance inside. County Health officials responded and took the evidence to a testing facility.
The Sheriff’s Office is currently unsure what type of substance was in the envelope. Hawkins suspects a disgruntled former tenant could be responsible.
