Operation MOM will be in Courthouse Park in downtown Sonora on Friday, hosting a Memorial Day program to honor fallen heroes from past wars to present day.
The President of the local chapter of Operation MOM, Pat Padavana and fallen soldier Bobby Rapp’s mother, Jennifer were both Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
An Honor Scroll that will be sent to troops overseas, will be available to sign from 10am through 3pm.
The planned program will begin at 11:30am with music from Summerville High and Sonora Elementary. Additionally, the public can expect a bugular, color guard and several veterans to be present. Jennifer Rapp will speak on the meaning of Memorial Day.
The public is asked to bring donations of food, clothes that will all be sent to the troops. Checks will also help with the cost of delivery.
The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
