Angels Camp, CA — Organizers of the recent Calaveras Follies say the event raised more than $23,000 for Calaveras Youth Mentoring.
The event was put on in correlation with the Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee. The Calaveras Follies is a lip synched musical review with community celebrities serving as the stars. The 2010 Follies featured the largest cast ever, with 86 volunteering their time. This was also Superintendent of Schools John Brophy’s last year as master of ceremonies, which he celebrated by winning the Frog Oscar with a drag rendition of “My Way.”
The event is put on by Calaveras Youth Mentoring, with help from presenting partners Frogtown and Murphys Creek Theatre.
