Sonora, CA – Many in Tuolumne County will soon have a new way to recycle.
Waste Management and Tuolumne County are launching a two cart system next month for residential customers in the Waste Management Franchise area. It will replace the former "blue bag" process.
The week of July 12, customers will be provided with a cart that is to be used for recyclables and a second cart for regular garbage.
Garbage will still be collected weekly and recyclables will be collected bi-weekly. The new program officially starts during the first week of August when new automated trucks hit the road.
Waste Management says the change will make recycling more convenient and environmentally friendly.
The changes have been adopted by the Tuolumne County Supervisors. They do not yet apply to the city of Sonora.
