San Andreas, CA — The final absentee ballots have been counted in Calaveras County, and Merita Callaway is the winner of the District Three Supervisor seat.
When the polls closed last Tuesday she had 49.8 percent, but has expanded her lead to 51.3 percent. She needed a simple majority in order to avoid a runoff with second place Bill McManus who has 42.7 percent.
In District five, Darren Spellman and Russ Thomas will compete in a November runoff. Spellman finished with 42 percent and Thomas 35 percent.
Gary Kuntz is the winner of the Sheriff’s race, receiving 51.2 percent and Ed Ballard finishes with 48.6 percent.
