There will be a barbeque fundraiser supporting Help American Children Foundation, veterans and the homeless this Saturday, June 8th at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds from 2 to 7 pm.
Troy Dorman was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
The barbecue fundraiser will be hosted by HomeBase Treatment, Inc., a non-profit organization that helps individuals (aka clients) with substance abuse.
Home Base utilizes the Addiction Severity Assessment Model (ASAM), which assess not only the client’s alcohol and/or drug use, but five other areas of functioning.
Home Base utilizes the ASAM client placement criteria at intake to determine the level of care and meet the needs of each client. Once the criteria is determined the client will be referred to the appropriate level of treatment.
The ASAM process identifies and documents ancillary services that the participant has identified as areas that they feel are important for them to develop a goal. The seven potential problem areas: Medical, Employment/Support Status, Alcohol, Drug, Legal, Family/Social and Psychological. The participant has the opportunity to assess their problem areas, and determine which areas they feel are a problem to them, and that they desire to receive help with. There is also the ability for the interviewing counselor to give make their comments.
All intake staff is trained in interviewing techniques in order to put the participant at ease so they are in charge of their assessment process.
Following the assessment, participants are given information regarding the development of a Treatment Plan for services, which address each section that is identified by the participant.
The barbecue meal this Saturday will include Smoked Beef Ball Tip and BBQ Chicken with homemade potato salad, fresh green salad, bbq beans, a roll and a beverage.
For children, there will be bbq hot dogs, chips and a drink.
Each dinner purchased will include a raffle ticket for a wood fired vertical smoker with offset Firebox that can be used as a grill.
There will be live entertainment including a “Vintage Vocalist” who sings songs from the 1930’s, forties and the fifties.
$20 adult early bird tickets can be purchased today at homebasetreatment.com/event. Tickets will also be available at the door for $25.
This is a full family event that includes a bounce house for the children.
