Sonora, CA – Tuolumne County’s unemployment rate during the month of June dropped to 13.2 percent.
In May, Tuolumne County’s rate was 13.5 percent. This marks the second straight month that the rate has decreased.
“I’m hoping that we are beginning to see a new trend,” says George Segarini, Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce President and CEO. “This is good news.”
Segarini hopes there will be additional good months ahead with the openings of Lowe’s and Kohl’s on the horizon. Calaveras County’s rate increased during the month of June to 15.1 percent. During May, the unemployment rate was 14.9 percent. The State of California is at 12.3 percent. The statistics were released by the California Employment Development Department.
