Columbia College Purchases Calaveras Property

Columbia, CA — Columbia College plans to build a new facility in Angels Camp.

The college has agreed to purchase 5.9 acres of undeveloped land along Murphys Grade Road, from the Calaveras County Office of Education. The cost is $615,000, and the funding will come from voter approved Measure E Bonds.

Currently Columbia College offers a two year degree program at the Bret Harte High School campus, and had rented space at the Glory Hole location. “We’re very excited and very pleased with the purchase,” says Dr. Joan Smith, Columbia College President. “It will be a great addition.”

Now that the property is purchased, the planning phase to develop a permanent center will begin. No timelines have been released.
