San Andreas, CA — Two San Andreas residents were killed in a head-on collision Wednesday night.
It occurred at 5:45pm on Gold Strike Road south of Leonard Road in San Andreas. The CHP says a 1993 Dodge Caravan driven by 21-year-old Matt Thein of San Andreas collided head-on with a 1999 Mercedes driven by 30-year-old Leah Montoya of Copperopolis. The two passengers in Thein’s vehicle, 50-year-old Michael Thein and 54-year-old Karen Lundy, were fatally injured. Matt Thein suffered Moderate injuries and flown to Doctors Hospital in Modesto. Thein has been charged with DUI.
Montoya suffered minor injuries and was taken to Mark Twain Saint Joseph’s Hospital. Montoya’s 10 year old daughter, the only passenger in her vehicle, was flown to U.C. Davis because of minor injuries.
