Modesto, CA– Republican Senator Dave Cogdill has applauded the Joint Audit Committee for moving forward with his request to examine whether the State Lands Commission is shortchanging taxpayers in rent for public properties.
Last month, Senator Cogdill sent a letter to the Committee requesting an audit of the Commission’s real estate management practices. The State Auditor estimates that it will take more than 2,000 hours to complete this audit and a final report should be due by next spring.
Senator Cogdill represents part or all of the counties of Fresno, Madera, Mariposa, San Joaquin, Stanislaus and Tuolumne.
