Recycling Transition Faces Challenges

Sonora, CA – Implementing the new recycling program in Tuolumne County has posed challenges for Waste Management/Cal-Sierra.

“We’ve been working the past week and a half making sure that our routing is all correct,” says Justin Caporusso, Waste Management Spokesperson. “We’ve been collecting on a daily basis, but then playing a little bit of catch-up the following day for missed pickups that we’ve encountered.”

“We appreciate everyone’s patience during this transition,” Caporusso adds.

The new two-cart recycling program started a week and a half ago for Tuolumne County Waste Management customers. (It does not include those that reside in the Sonora City limits)

Caporusso says that starting today Waste Management is calling in additional trucks from outside the area to assist with disposal pickup. The company is also opening up more phone lines to assist customers that have issues. Anyone with concerns can call 209-532-1413.
