Valley Springs, CA– Jenny Lind Elementary School in Valley Springs was temporarily on lockdown this morning.
At 11:33 am Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a man pointing a rifle into the back seat of a light color sedan on Highway 26 near Driver Road. Upon arrival it was determined that nearby Jenny Lind Elementary should be locked down as a precautionary measure.
After a search of the area, deputies contacted a juvenile male that stated he was playing with a simulated gun similar to a BB gun. Because the BB gun matched the description of earlier witness reports, authorities lifted the lockdown status at 12:14 pm concluding that the school was no longer at risk.
