The Sonora Taco Bell Restaurant located at 13770 Mono Way is undergoing a major renovation that will affect the entire appearance of the building both inside and out.
Walter Plunkett, Taco Bell Franchise Owner, was Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
Plunkett has owned the Sonora Taco Bell for the past twenty years.
The remodel/renovation started earlier this week on Tuesday and Plunkett hopes for full completion by the middle of October.
During the nearly one month scheduled renovation, the drive-thru will remain open for all but ten days. Taco Bell will be completely closed while the kitchen is being gutted and remodeled.
Plunkett predicts quick and excellent service at the drive-thru, as all of the employee efforts during the renovation will be geared towards only one point of distribution.
Once completed, patrons will notice the changes both inside and out. The exterior towers, windows, colors, signs and walls will all be new and updated. Inside of the restaurant, the dining room area and the bathrooms will have new floors, ceilings, walls, seating and decor.
Most Motherlode locations for Taco Bell are owned by Plunkett including the Taco Bell/Pizza Hut inside of the Sonora Walmart as well as stand-alone Taco Bells in Angels Camp, Valley Springs and Loomis.
If Sonora’s Walmart is allowed to expand, Taco Bell will no longer be a part of the store. According to Plunkett, there will basically no longer be room for that restaurant location.
The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
